Man Charged in Fatal Road Rage Accident - Chicago Personal ...

April 3rd, 2013

Greg Puglise, a 63-year-old Vietnam veteran, was riding home on his motorcycle when he was struck and killed by a crazed driver.

Michael Moreno, 32, had become engaged in a road rage incident with three young people after he was cut off by a 16-year-old driver. The drivers pulled over and exchanged heated words . Moreno chased after the teenagers and drove his Infiniti sedan into Puglise?s path at River Road and Ogden Avenue. Unable to stop in time, Puglise struck Moreno?s car.

Prosecutors stated that Moreno was experiencing road rage after the collision, and that he only paused briefly after colliding with Puglise before continuing after the other vehicle. Police reported that Moreno did not even get out of his car after the crash with Puglise. Moreno reportedly told police that a blue car was responsible for the collision, and drove off after the teenagers that enraged him, leaving Puglise and his mangled motorcycle for dead.

Police followed Moreno to a parking lot, where Moreno and the teens in the other car had stopped. Moreno kept yelling at the teenagers until police restrained him and he was arrested. Additional charges were later filed after blood tests indicated Moreno had marijuana and cocaine in his system. Moreno faces charges of aggravated DUI and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
